TE ARAROA – NZ’S TRAIL

I walked New Zealand’s Te Araroa trail from Cape Reinga to Bluff. Distancing 3000km, it took me 5 months in total.
I split the country into 2 summers.
North Island Southbound 2022 (Cape Reinga to Wellington)
South Island Northbound 2023 (Bluff to Ships Cove)
This was my first long-distance thru-hike and I wrote every day in my journal while I was hiking!
I thought I’d extracted my South Island stories into blogs.
I would write out my North Island stories, but unfortunately, I don’t have the journal with me. One day I shall type it up.

Note: Te Araroa translates to “The Long Pathway” in Te Reo. There’s been a debate about whether there should be “the” in front of Te Araroa as ‘Te’ already means “the”. I’ve left it out but you may accidentally find a few in there.

SOBO = Southbound
NOBO = Northbound
